The Hoboken Police Department Traffic and Transportation Unit handles daily traffic problems within the City. The main goal of the Traffic Unit is to help reduce the number of motor vehicle and pedestrian accidents and make the Hoboken roadways safer. The Unit establishes detours and traffic details for various functions in the city throughout the year. Members of the Traffic and Transportation Unit are highly trained officers. Some members of the Unit are certified in accident reconstruction and work side by side with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in crash reconstruction. Some members are certified motorcycle officers and instructors who instruct at the Bergen County Police Academy.
