The special needs contact form was created to provide a data base of those individuals in our community who have special needs. The form provides us with detailed information regarding medication, diagnosis, picture of the child, floor plans of living quarters, as well as their likes and dislikes. This information is meant to help officers in their response to jobs involving these individuals. (For example, child with ASD is holding a knife, refusing to let go, officer knows he is a Rangers fan but hates the Devils, the officer can diffuse the situation by talking about the Rangers). This information also helps our response should the child become missing. The parent would not have to give us all the information, they could just let the officer know they are registered with the HPD. All information is voluntary and confidential.
