The Hoboken Police Department (HPD) announces the arrest of 34-year-old Tajhmere Rhone, of Hoboken, on multiple charges related to illegal narcotics distribution. The arrest follows a month-long investigation by the HPD Street Crimes Unit, in response to numerous resident complaints of suspected drug sales and trespassing on Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) property.
Investigators with the Street Crimes Unit identified Rhone as the suspect in multiple narcotics transactions, and ultimately determined he was distributing controlled dangerous substances (CDS) from his residence on the 300 block of Harrison Street.
On April 24, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m., Hoboken Police, with the assistance of the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, executed a warrant and safely arrested Rhone at his home. An on-scene investigation led to the recovery of suspected heroin and cocaine, along with U.S. currency, believed to be proceeds from narcotics distribution. The items were seized as evidence.
Rhone was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing on multiple charges including sale of CDS, possession with the intent to distribute CDS, possession with the intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 500 feet of public housing, endangering the welfare of a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing.
“I commend the thorough work of our Street Crimes Unit, who saw this case from start to finish,” said Police Chief Steven Aguiar. “We take all resident complaints seriously and will continue to act on them. Drug activity is not tolerated in Hoboken.”
The Hoboken Police Department thanks the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team and the Hudson County Sherriff’s Office K-9 Unit for their assistance during the arrest.
The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
